On July 4, 1776 the Continental Congress adopted the wording of the Declaration of Independence. With that document, it signaled that the American colonies would be free and independent, no longer ruled by Great Britain.

This announcement was after the start of the American Revolution- which led to the creation of the United States Constitution, and the establishment of our country and our society.

On this day, July 4, 2023 let us remember those who sacrificed and risked everything they had to win our freedom and to secure the ideals which have defined us, as a nation and a people, for nearly 250 years. Let us remember how important it is to preserve these ideals and values for future generations of Americans.
